SHAPING LEADERS!

As the Yefab members celebrate the recognition of the summer/ fall grantees of 2012 for the success of their programs throughout the six months, on Wednesday January 30, 2013, a week prior to this, we got a chance to grow as a leader in our Community. Being a leader, it is an important quality to be able to be confident when presenting one’s self to a small, medium, or large groups of people. Role models that are strong are role models that encourage the community to be even stronger together.

As we prepare for the event last Wednesday, we as a big group split into smaller groups of three, and we were able to practice giving speeches to each other. After we would give our speeches, we would all give each other feedback verbally. Right after, we would write down our notes for the speaker, and let them marinate on their growth and constructive feedback. Through this process, we became more engaged and prepared to tackle this world, and to become leaders and strong public speakers as well.

Now, as well tackle the new year, where we are at the helm of a three-year grant and received our new batch of the fall/spring six month grantees to be in charge of being program officers, we are now more aware of the responsibilities we must undertake, because we were given the proper training by our program of fellow youth philanthropists, the Yefabers and our leaders, Wendy and Gillian. Props to you both! Thank you for everything!
