Super Sunday with Adopt-An- Alleyway

This Sunday on January 27, 2013, from 11:30AM-3 PM at Gordon J. Lau Elementary School, please come and join Adopt-An-Alleyway at its monthly gathering in which you spend time with children who are currently living in Single Room Occupancies (SROs) while their parents learn more about safety skills and their housing rights. As a part of the Chinese Community Development Center, Adopt- An-Alleyway consists of a group of youth leaders who want to make a positive change in the Chinatown community. One of the events that they hold monthly is Super Sunday, and these youth leaders create activities for kids who live in SROs to give them a better environment to play on a Sunday and a better environment for adults and children to learn. Often times due to the limited space in Chinatown many children do not have the proper resources to have as much fun during their childhood, such as a big park to play at. In addition these children often communicate in Chinese with their families since most of their parents are immigrants. So Adopt-An-Alleyway created Super Sunday to provide a good and big space for the children to play and also so that they could encourage the children to speak more English during their time at Super Sunday. With fun activities planned and welcoming arms, Adopt-An-Alleyway invites you to come and be a part of Super Sunday!
