Chinese New Year, here already?
On January 27, 2013, from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Adopt-An-Alleyway celebrated Chinese New Year with children in the Chinatown Community. As a very important celebration in the Chinese culture, adult volunteers came to Super Sunday with bags filled with goodies such as a small stuffed doggies, and assembled "gift bags" for these children. Most of the children who go to Super Sunday are currently living in Single-Room-Occupancies (SROs), so to provide a way for children to have fun and learn, Adopt-An-Alleyway has provided them with Super Sunday! This month, while celebrating Chinese New Year, kids came together to watch television together and to do fun activities. Activities ranged from making paper dragons, and folding red pockets into animals to making cereal necklaces! As I looked around, I saw volunteers and kids laughing with one another while making these crafts together. So, come to the next Super Sunday at the end of February to experience a fun and exciting day with people in the Chinatown Community!
