CHECK OUT WHAT’S
HAPPENING ON MARCH 5TH
The Young Women’s Health Leadership Summit (YWHLS) is
sponsored by the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health in
collaboration with the San Francisco Unified School District. The goal of the
YWHLS is to provide resources and information on a wide range of health topics
to young women, hoping to bring empowerment and support for the young women to
make wise decisions about their well-being and future endeavors. The theme for
the 2013 summit is “We’re Girls! We’re Proud! We Live Out Loud!” Through this
summit, we wish to educate, empower, and unite young women. The 2013 summit
features workshops, an exhibit hall (consisting of resources such as job
opportunities, health clinics, academic support, etc.), and a variety of
presentations by women who serve as role models through sharing their inspiring
stories of success and perseverance. This event will also include a panel of inspirational
speakers, performance art, and an open-mic session where young women can raise
their voices through self-expression, and a keynote speaker encouraging them
toward community action.
The 2013 summit hopes to gather over 250 young women from over
20 high schools in San Francisco to represent the diversity and complexity of
young women in the Bay area. This will be an inspiring and rare opportunity for
young women to be surrounded by so many of their peers and from such a variety
of backgrounds. So if you or anyone you know is interested and is in high
school (girls only), information is provided below.
