Intergenerational Stories outLoud and Proud Site Visit

On Saturday, October 27th, 2012, I visited my Mini-Grants Grantee Intergenerational Stories outLoud and Proud. It was the first time that I met anyone on the project, so it was very nice finally seeing everyone. Everyone was very welcoming. I also sat in on their meeting, and just kind of watched what it was that they were doing. I must say, the relationship between the adult allies and the youth are fantastic! They have a very respectful relationship with one another, taking in everyone's opinions and not leaving anyone out: a nice group, I must say.

I was very excited to actually see what they were working on; it was also nice hearing little snippets of the stories from the elders. It was amazing how all the stories that were recorded, were done by the youth! I was also lucky enough to witness the beginning of their edits to the raw recordings that they made. I never knew there was so many things that could be done to a raw recording, to change and shape the material to a more powerful story. Overall, I had a very nice time at the site visit, and experienced many firsts. Thank you for having me, Intergenerational Stories outLoud and Proud! I am certain your project and your ending-pieces will be a success!
