When I went to POWER (People Organized To Win Employment Rights) for a visit, I was amazed at how developed the program center was. It was equipped with a youth (ages 4-12) playroom, several offices, a copying room, a back-porch, and even a kitchen (and much more)! That's not to mention the numerous greetings received from program coordinators! The setting was quite lively and festive, mainly because POWER was celebrating its success in free Muni campaign for underprivileged youth. I spoke to Lorren about POWER's campaign, and she mentioned that solidarity is the one attribute that made the program successful. I personally learned a lot about the youth group and hope to attend their future events. Their Bayview branch was unfortunately closed down due to budget restraints. However, their office is located within minutes of the DCYF building.
If you are in the general vicinity, please check these guys out! They are located at 335 South Van Ness Ave. 2nd Floor. 94103
