On Friday April 20th 2012, I had the honor to be present in the grand opening of the Excelsior Parklet in front of Cafe Mama. Everyone was very happy and excited to see the finished project for the first time as well as meet the people who created it. The parklet was very beautiful and carefully crafted with cute designs, and it had plants on both ends. People were gathering around, eating the food that was provided by Cafe Mama. There was a variety of food, but I ate pupusas that made me get seconds because of their delicous taste. Once everyone finished eating, Supervisor of the excelsior district, John Avalos, was there to present and honor everyone who worked in making the parktlet possbile.They received certificates for their hard work and dedication. Pictures were taken, and music was played throughout the opening. It was a great experience being there, and being part of the people who made it happen for them because of the funding we gave them. It was definitely a priceless feeling seeing everyone so happy to have this project become a reality.
